The 2012 settlement, which was aimed at stopping home mortgage abuse, did lead some banks, including Bank of America, to cut down on their fraudulent foreclosure practices. But it didn’t prevent Wells Fargo from continuing to ignore regulations governing how they're supposed to treat homeowners facing foreclosure, according to New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
As a result, Schneiderman has announced plans to file yet another lawsuit against Wells Fargo for the bank’s continued foreclosure abuses. Sources say Schneiderman is outraged that consumers continue to experience “recurring issues” with Wells Fargo mortgage servicers. Of course, this lawsuit only helps consumers in New York.
